The rent never touches us.
That's the point.

Remuto is the technology layer, not a middleman. The listing page brings the lead. Screening runs through a licensed consumer reporting agency and ID checks through Stripe Identity — inside the app, with the applicant's consent. The California lease is drafted, revised and e-signed in Remuto: in person on one phone, or by a signing link sent anywhere.

Then the money. Deposits and rent move bank-to-bank — Zelle, or Apple Cash right in Messages — straight from tenant to owner. No funds pass through Remuto, and every agreement says exactly that on its face.

What the rental side costs.

Listing pages, leads, showings, screening links, leases, e-signing — free. Remuto charges $9.99 once, when the lease is signed. Never a percentage of rent, and the rent itself never passes through us.

Renting from a stranger shouldn't feel like one.

Rental fraud works because neither side can check the other. Remuto checks both — before any money moves. Every host is paid through a Stripe account opened in their legal name; every guest verifies a government ID once.

Who you're renting from

Owners verify against county records. Remuto checks the name on the listing against the recorded owner of the property — a match earns the “Owner of record — county-verified” badge renters see on the listing.

Agents verify against the DRE. A licensed agent's number is checked live against the California Department of Real Estate — active license, real name, shown on their listings. A fake “landlord” can't fake either badge.

Who you're renting to

Short-term stays: government ID + selfie. Before a stay is accepted, the guest verifies a photo ID with a matching selfie through Stripe Identity — the same document forensics banks use.

Long-term tenants: full screening, with consent. Credit, eviction history, and background run through a licensed consumer reporting agency — the applicant consents at the agency's own page, and the landlord reads the report. Remuto never touches it.

Income, verified at the source. Applicants can connect their own bank through Stripe; the landlord sees one summary line — funds available and average monthly deposits — never transactions or account numbers.

And the money itself: for long-term rentals, rent and deposits move bank-to-bank between tenant and owner — never through Remuto. For short-term stays, the guest pays by card through Stripe into the host's own verified Stripe account, and the host is paid the day after check-in — not before. Reviews written after a stay can't be edited by the host, and every lease is e-signed with a tamper-evident record both parties keep. One rule we teach everyone: never pay for a place outside the app. Nobody at Remuto will ever ask you to wire money, and a Remuto payment link always opens on a Stripe checkout page.

Guests ask the same twenty questions, and somebody has to be awake. Concierge sits at the top of the conversation a guest already has with their host and answers about the stay — wifi, parking, checkout, the house rules — from what the host already wrote, with the source shown under every answer.

Ask what to do nearby — dinner within a walk, somewhere to relax, a hike, what's on this week — and it finds places from live local data with a link to book. Say you're celebrating, and the host hears. Left something behind? The thread stays open after checkout.

Anything it can't answer from the listing goes straight to the host, who answers. It never guesses, never books on your behalf, and never says a place is safe or good beyond what its source said.

Straight answers

Do I need a realtor to rent with Remuto?

No — renting your own property never required one. Remuto supplies the paperwork spine for long-term rentals: the California lease, screening, ID checks, e-signatures. For short-term stays there is no contract at all: the guest accepts your house rules, cancellation policy and deposit terms on the payment page, and both of you keep the record. Agents are welcome — they use Remuto for the video and the listing page, and their association's forms for represented deals. Remuto does not handle home sales.

Is my money safe?

For long-term rentals, Remuto never touches it — rent and deposits move bank-to-bank between tenant and owner, and every lease says so. For short-term stays, guests pay by card through Stripe into the host's own Stripe account; Remuto keeps 3% and holds nothing. One rule we teach everyone: nobody at Remuto will ever ask you to wire money, and a payment link from Remuto always opens on a Stripe checkout page.

Are the contracts actually legal?

They're real California documents — the lease tracks the Civil Code section by section, e-signatures are binding under federal and state law, and every signed copy carries a tamper-evident record. Each one also says, on its face, that it's a template and not legal advice: for unusual situations, have an attorney look before signing. That honesty is part of what makes them trustworthy.

What does it cost?

The app is free — the camera, every video style, unlimited listings, listing pages, leads, screening links, leases, signatures. Remuto earns 3% when a short-term stay is paid (guests pay no fee) and $9.99 when a lease is signed. AI renders such as staging and the presenter use credits, sold in packs, a few dollars each.

Do I need special hardware?

No. Remuto runs on iPhone Pro models — the ones with the LiDAR sensor, which is every Pro since 2020. No 360 camera, no drone, no tripod.

How accurate are the floor plans?

LiDAR measures to roughly an inch — right for listings, quotes and leases; not a substitute for a licensed survey, and every export says so. The scan also cross-checks the county's square footage, which is often the number that's actually wrong.

Is the AI stuff going to get me in trouble?

The opposite — Remuto is the app that takes disclosure seriously. Virtual staging and AI edits are stamped on the image and logged automatically, originals are always kept, and the measured drawings need no disclaimer at all because nothing in them is generated.
